Brand new Danish quartet LISS would appear to have materialized out of the ether to the untrained eye, but with XL hotshot Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, King Krule, Låpsley) behind the mixing desk, our bet is that someone huge is backing this project. That's not to say LISS' delightfully willowy debut song, 'Try' doesn't justify the hype which has propelled them onto some of the net's heavyweight tastemaker sites, though. The high school kids have nailed that Jungle-y funk-pop vibe we've come to associate with high summer perfectly, using an array of infectious guitar hooks, sunny percussive motifs and a vocal of pure falsetto gold. A wickedly enticing first effort. - DC
